My little piece of paradise

I live in Harmony Grove by Lodi Wisconsin. Nearby is Lake Wisconsin and the Wisconsin River. Don't tell anybody, but this is a great place to play.

The boat landing

The kids in the neighborhood swim at the boat landing.

Bike ramp

Amazing what the kids can do off their ramp.

Lots of sand for Drew and Tim

Nice to go up river beyond where most boats can go.

Ok, I laughed too.

Tim looks kind of tough in this picture.

The floods

Every Spring, the river floods. This is the front of my favorite spot - Hookers.

The Boat

"Brace yourselfs boys, we're running the river!"

A small fast boat with power trim and proper hull design is the way to go. My boat will scoot along at planing speed only drawing a couple of inches. I can get past sand bar barriers where few can travel. Once past the barriers, the river deepens again. This area is a great getaway. For those who know the river, it is between Hookers and Portage.

Of course, once in a while, I can misread the river and run up on a sandbar. It helps to have a small boat in this situation because the only way off is by pushing.

I always bring a little metal wire to clear the "pee hole" of sand.

I go through at least one aluminum propeller a year. If they don't get dinghed up, by the end of the season, they pretty ground down by the sand.
